New to the staffing industry, Laycie spent several years doing interim accounting work before deciding on the career change. She believes that her experience doing interim accounting work and her joy for meeting new people will allow her to better connect with ARG’s interim accounting consultants. According to Laycie, “Being very thorough and detail oriented is what makes for perfect placements. I love building lasting relationships with both the candidates and the clients.” We think she might be on to something.
Laycie was born and raised on the Central Coast of California. She is the oldest of six siblings, and loves to hit all the roller coasters at Magic Mountain with her younger brothers. She would spend her perfect day in Cambria doing a day spa, wine tasting and finishing up at the local oyster bar.
Born and Raised in Chicago, Adam is an avid Cubs fan and a begrudging Bears fan. After graduating from Northeastern University in Boston with a dual major in Accounting and Finance and a minor in Cinema Studies, Adam went to work for 8 years in Corporate Finance. What Adam really wanted to do after college was join the LAPD and become a police officer. Unfortunately, a few knee surgeries after passing all the cop tests kept him from achieving that.
Adam joins our Manhattan Beach crew after a few years as a Recruiting Manager with a national recruiting firm in Woodland Hills.
On a free day Adam would attempt to make a dent in his growing “to read” pile, but admits that he would probably get distracted by friends, naps and food.
USC – Fight on! Taylor was born and raised in Long Beach and graduated from the University of Southern California with a double major in Political Science and International Relations. She began recruiting in 2007, after 5 years of working for a firm that did political and non-profit fundraising. Taylor joins Alliance Resource Group after a very successful 8-year career at a national recruiting firm in Los Angeles. She is part of the original ARG crew starting up our Manhattan Beach office.
When asked why she decided to be a recruiter, Taylor said “I chose this career because everyone needs someone to point them in the right direction, give honest feedback and be their force when being represented. I chose this career because I love helping people advance their careers”.
On a free day, you might find Taylor sleeping in, biking to the beach and enjoying oysters watching a sunset over the water. Sounds pretty good.
Rachael began her career in the staffing industry in 1996 after she mistakenly walked into a recruiter’s office and they hired her. She immediately fell in love with recruiting. Since then she has been a powerhouse in staffing; most recently as a Branch Manager with a large national staffing firm in Santa Barbara. Rachael has a demonstrated ability to build high performing recruiting teams and her Branch was consistently one of the top in the nation.
Born and raised in the Central Coast of California, Rachael’s Grandfather was the Head Cabinet Maker for the Hearst Corporation. This allowed her the unique experience of having daily access to the grounds around Hearst Castle where she would watch the horses and zebras on the property. Having lived her whole life in the Central Coast, moving to Orange County was a big decision for Rachael. The decision to make the move was made much easier given her two daughters, Monae and Malena, will be attending college in San Diego and this allows her to be much closer.
Raised in Yorba Linda, David lives in the house he grew up in with his wife, Alicia and their tiny, but larger than life, Jack Russell terrier named Leo. Before David became a recruiter, he made a run at playing professional rugby. Professional rugby looked easier on TV than it turned out to be. He has a bachelor’s in criminal justice and sociology, as well as a juris doctorate.
“Being focused on the long term and doing the process right. There is an art to how the entire recruiting life cycle is managed if done correctly, versus just worrying about closing the specific transaction”, is the reason David is a great recruiter. He is also fond of breaking into 90’s hip hop song lyrics when the mood strikes him, but you won’t find that on his LinkedIn profile.
Kari is the friendly face you see when you walk into the Alliance Resource Group office. If it were not for Kari, nothing would get done. As our office manager, Kari keeps the wheels on the bus moving. When asked what makes her great at her job, Kari says that it is because she really cares – about her work, about the ARG staff and about our consultants. She always makes sure that everyone knows that she is there to support their needs and to help put out the great ARG product. She is well organized and fiercely loyal!
Kari was born in Saigon, Vietnam and emigrated to the United States with her family. She spent the first eight years of her life bouncing around the East Coast and Midwest before finally settling down for good in Southern California. Kari, her husband, Jeff, and their two children, Shane and Ryan, enjoy having big, loud and fun family get-togethers.
After receiving his bachelor’s in accounting with a minor in economics from Cal State Fullerton, Brad went to work as an auditor for PricewaterhouseCoopers. Brad really enjoys networking, so becoming a recruiter was an easy decision. When asked what he likes best about recruiting he replied, “The satisfaction of seeing the people we place being promoted and our clients becoming long-term trusted partners. It’s a great feeling when your candidate becomes a client by way of promotion.”
Brad is our only recruiter that can land a 360 flip on a skateboard and break 80 on the golf course. Impressive! If Brad had a free day, he would want to spend time with friends doing something competitive.
Dean began working in the staffing industry 25 years ago, which makes him Alliance Resource Group’s most seasoned recruiter. He joined ARG in 2016 after successfully owning and operating his own firm, The Bennett Group, for many years. What makes Dean such a great recruiter is his ability to find the true strengths in people. To Dean everybody is blessed and everybody shines. Dean is especially talented at matching candidates to the right jobs.
Born and raised in Connecticut, Dean got his undergraduate degree from University of Connecticut and an MBA from University of Massachusetts. A father of four, Dean and his wife, Toni, also share their home with a dog, two cats and a fish named Blue. If Dean had a free day he would go for the hat trick — fishing for yellowtail in the morning, a twilight round of golf followed by playing in a poker tournament. Boom!
Ryan is an avid mountain biker who would ski on fresh powder in Whistler, Canada on his perfect day. He started his professional career as a financial advisor for 12 years, before transitioning into recruiting.
Ryan has bachelor’s in psychology and finance from Pacific Union College. Growing up in Lake Arrowhead, Ryan was a very competitive hockey player and figure skater. He also played the piano daily. What Ryan likes most about recruiting is learning about a company from the inside out and being able to build out a top tier finance team from the top down. Ryan enjoys spending time with his son, Tallen, and volunteering with the Boy Scouts.
Karen really enjoys taking the time to learn about her candidates to fully understand their needs and wants. In doing so, she is able to make successful matches that are good for both the candidates and her clients. What Karen likes most about working at Alliance Resource Group is that the firm is more focused on building relationships than being strictly numbers driven. Although Karen has only been recruiting since early 2014, she has become an invaluable part of the Alliance Resource Group team and helps drive our Interim Accounting Operations business.
Born and raised in Southern California, she graduated from UC Irvine with a bachelor’s in psychology and social behavior. Karen enjoys going to Disneyland and spending time playing with her two dogs, a frenchie and a pug.
Born in Hollywood and raised in Los Angeles, Kyle was destined to be a star. When that did not work out, he did the next best thing and became a recruiter. After graduating from California State University, Long Beach with a bachelor’s degree in finance, Kyle began his professional career working in accounting as an Assistant Controller and Controller for several companies in the surf industry. After a number of years working in accounting, he became an entrepreneur and developed two successful coffee-house locations in Orange County where he was the CFO (and head barista).
In 2003 Kyle again shifted his career and became a financial recruiter in the Bay area with a large national staffing company where he was responsible for building successful recruiting teams. Kyle joined Alliance Resource Group in 2009 as a Recruiting Manager.
Kyle’s knowledge of Los Angeles, his entrepreneurial spirit and his many years of financial recruiting experience make him the perfect leader to spearhead the opening of our El Segundo branch office. The office is scheduled to open in June of 2017.
Kyle is a proud parent of two girls, Maya and Sage, whom are attending college in San Francisco, CA and Paris, France. In his spare time, Kyle loves to fire up the BBQ after a good surf session.
We are pleased to welcome Jackie to Alliance Resources Group straight from Atlanta where she has lived her whole life. When asked if she was concerned at all about her move from Georgia to California, Jackie said is excited for the change and expressed that her most difficult transition might be purging the word “Y’all” from her vocabulary. Jackie’s background is in Marketing. After attending Kennesaw State University where she was majoring in Business Marketing, Jackie went to work as a Marketing Assistant and spent 6 years working directly with a variety of clients.
Jackie has been a recruiter for 3 years with 2 different major national recruiting firms. What Jackie likes best about recruiting is that she gets the ability to meet so many people whom all have different backgrounds and stories. She loves working with people! What makes Jackie a good recruiter? “I put the relationship first. I prefer to build strong and lasting relationships before anything!”
Jackie is a proud supporter and volunteer for the ALS and the American Cancer Society.
Kevin is well known for being able to lift heavy objects and set them back down. He is also well known for being an excellent recruiter, and we are really happy to have him here at Alliance Resource Group. He began working in the staffing industry in 2011 at a large national recruiting firm. Kevin’s favorite part about being a recruiter is having a positive impact on people’s lives and careers. He takes the time to really get to know his clients and candidates.
Kevin graduated from Cal State Fullerton with his bachelor’s in business administration with a concentration in economics. When asked about his first job ever, Kevin said he would sit in the sun for hours on end telling people repeatedly to cross their arms and legs before they went down the waterslides at the Wild Rivers water park. Fortunately, we don’t make Kevin sit in the sun anymore. Kevin’s perfect day would be a gym session in the morning, followed by spending the rest of the day with his wife, Ria.
Jennifer founded Alliance Resource Group in 2003 after four years as a consistent top five performer for a prominent national staffing agency. Jennifer’s vision was to take the best of both contingent and retained search firms and merge them into a single platform. ARG represents this vision with the high touch, highly consultative approach of the retained industry coupled with the sense of urgency and extensive and broad network of a contingent firm. Born and raised in San Diego, her claim to fame was winning the Metric Marathon in 5th grade. She wandered North and graduated Summa Cum Laude from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. A Certified Public Accountant and Deloitte Alum, Jennifer has found her true professional calling running a world class staffing firm.
With boundless energy, this mother of triplets plus two successfully handles the demands of running a business and raising five children. If Jennifer had any spare time, she would enjoy scrapbooking, cooking, wine tasting, Lyle Lovett concerts and travel. Jennifer is a huge Star Wars fan; so much so that she embraced her inner geek with Star Wars Pop Art for the corporate office.
Michael formally joined Alliance Resource Group in 2016, but he has been a part of the company since day one in 2003. Michael and Jennie are married, so he has enjoyed many business conversations through the years and has been responsible for the finance duties since 2006. With the growth ARG has experienced over the past few years, Jennie convinced him to quit his day job and come on board full time to run operations and finance. Michael is a CPA and has an Executive MBA from U.C. Irvine.
Growing up in Fresno, California he graduated with his bachelor’s degree from Fresno State before moving to Orange County. Michael brings a strong accounting and finance background and an outsiders perspective, having worked as a CFO and finance executive for small private to large public companies for the past 20 years. An interesting factoid about Michael – he was a drill sergeant in the U.S. Army before going to college, but he is more bark than bite and makes a better accountant.
