Building an Accounting Powerhouse for a High-Growth CPG Brand

Securing top leadership in Accounting and Finance goes beyond conventional recruitment; it requires specialized industry expertise. At Alliance Resource Group (ARG), we embrace a consultative partnership to source talent solutions for our clients’ unique challenges.

Our team of seasoned professionals — all with robust experience in Finance and Accounting —  applies their collective wisdom to navigate and resolve even the most complex talent acquisition scenarios. We meticulously source elite talent to ensure every leadership role we fill marks a pivotal step toward organizational excellence.

This is part of an ongoing series of case studies demonstrating our team’s laser-focused approach to tackling client needs.

The Challenge

A high-growth, private equity-backed consumer packaged goods (CPG) company needed to build out its accounting department. The company had previously outsourced its accounting function, but due to exponential growth, the CFO and company leadership decided to bring the expertise back in-house.

As the company was in the health and beauty space and was in the process of building relationships with big beauty retailers, management believed specific experience in the beauty industry and an understanding of the wholesale distribution channels were necessary.

The Solution

With an extensive network and experience in the CPG industry, ARG quickly presented the client with a slate of highly qualified Controller candidates who not only had beauty industry experience but who also came from public accounting and were CPAs. The client selected a top candidate who had previously built out an accounting department, was highly skilled at building and mentoring teams, and could institute a reporting structure designed to scale as the company grows.

The Outcome

Within four months, the Controller seamlessly transitioned all the general accounting internally. He has built out an accounting infrastructure and is in the process of building out monthly reporting metrics and identifying key members to join his team. The CFO praised the Controller’s technical ability and commented on his excellent leadership skills. Our placement has been instrumental in creating the back-office infrastructure that will allow the company to scale and thrive.
